Shannen Doherty Says Relationship with Jennie Garth Is Now 'Good' After Past Drama: I Don't 'Hold Any Grudges' (2024)

Shannen Doherty is revealing that she is now on “good” terms with her former Beverly Hills, 90210 costar Jennie Garth.

The 53-year-old actress shared on the May 19 episode of her podcast Let’s Be Clear that she and Garth, 52, have moved past any tensions from their time filming the hit teen drama series.

“I see her at conventions, and we talk and, you know, we laugh,” she said. “I mean, those conventions, we work really hard, but we're all good… Jennie and I were young, and there are things that perhaps I would have done different [sic] back then, way back then, but I don't really particularly hold any grudges against anyone from that show.”

“I just think that we all were experiencing something for the very first time,” she continued. “And when you are experiencing something for the first time, you have to give an allowance for mistakes and sometimes poor judgment on my part, maybe on theirs.”

She noted the former costars are “all good now,” adding, “I mean, I hope we are. So I would say our relationship is good.”

In 2014 in Garth’s 2014 memoir,Deep Thoughts From a Hollywood Blonde, she wrote about about why she couldn’t get along with Doherty, writing, “We were locked in this sound stage for 14-16 hours every day. There were times when we loved each other and there were times when we wanted to claw each other’s eyes out.”

In March, Doherty told fellow alum Brian Austin Green on Let’s Be Clear that a previous disagreement with Garth stemmed from a on-set prank, saying, “What's really funny about that fight that was between myself and Jennie, and it started — I don't know if you remember why it started — she was doing, she was calling it ‘Pants Down Day’ where she would pull the pants on some of the crew members in a funny way but some of them were getting pretty annoyed with it.”

“And then I reversed it and I said, ‘Skirt up day’,” she continued. “And she always wore the men's Calvin Klein boxer shorts under her clothes. So I didn't think it was that big of a deal. And so I did ‘Skirt Up Day’ and oh, my God, she lost it on me and I was just not in the mood to back down.”

In August 2019, Doherty addressed the longstanding rumors about her alleged feuds with her costars before her exit from the series in 1994. “I have felt misunderstood my whole life,” Doherty told PEOPLE at the time. “The only difference is that now I’m okay with it. But there have been moments where we’ve been able to talk about things.”

She continued, “Somebody had a problem with me being late, but perhaps they didn’t know I was late because my dad was in the hospital, or maybe because I was in a horrible marriage. I didn’t share, or I wasn’t asked. I’m not saying it was all a misunderstanding, but a large portion of it was a misunderstanding.”

Doherty recalled having a conversation with her castmates and clearing up any misconceptions about her time on Beverly Hills, 90210 when reuniting for the short-lived Fox series BH90210.

“It was very interesting having those conversations, not just about me but about what they were going through too,” she continued. “And really understanding each other this time around as adults.”

“There was never any sit-down, like hey let’s talk about this,” she added. “It was just, we’re adults, we’re in a different place. You kind of start over, but you start over closer."

Garth also previously acknowledged that the drama was silly, saying on a 2019 episode ofWatch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, "We were young and so stupid."

“We’re just both very strong Aries women who don’t back down no matter what,” she jokingly added.
