Mission E-3: A Train to Catch is the third mission for the Treacherous Mansion. At last, the true culprit is revealed, and his prized possession. Luigi must stop at nothing to find King Boo, and his brother! To the Train Exhibit!

Walkthrough

Front entrance

Start by heading to the Inner Courtyard to activate the winding staircase.

Inner Courtyard

Put the fan on the staircase, and use the Poltergust to spin the staircase so that the top exits on the right side. Climb up and enter the East Corridor.

East Corridor

Follow the trails of coins to the door to the Train Exhibit, only to have it slam shut..and then slam Luigi. A Greenie and several Creepers will appear, so watch your step! When they are gone, head into the door below to enter the Study.

Study

There is a book missing from the shelf here, and a look in the mirror shows where the missing book is. Reveal it with the Darklight, and place it in the bookshelf...only to have an Empowered Poltergeist steal it away! Time to give chase. The Professor will alert you that he has moved across the mansion over to the West Corridor, so go back to the Inner Courtyard and move the stairs to be able to enter the West Corridor.

West Corridor

Watch out for the Creepers lying in wait, and take them out before proceeding into the Space Exhibit.

Diamond 8: Head into the Aviation Exhibit, and pull one of the sandbags from the hot air balloon. A StrongHider and two Greenies will spring forth. Capture them, and then pull the other sandbag to reveal a gem.

Money Spots: Several gold spiders and mice will appear in the West Corridor, so be on the lookout. In the Aviation Room, use the Poltergust on the propeller of the model plane to guide it around the room and get rewarded with cash. In the Archives, approach several boxes that close, open the bottom left, top right, top left, and bottom right to reveal a Gold Greenie, and capture him

Space Exhibit

Be sure to yank the chain on the spaceship on the far left to open a Portal back to the Front Entrance. Then look into the telescope to spy on the Poltergeist..in space? Exit the telescope to find yourself in space with him! Much like the battle with the Ancient Poltergeist, this battle will involve tracking him amongst the stars, and dodging any he throws at you. After you attempt to capture him, he will begin spinning the asteroid belt you are on, while hurling several bombs your way. Keep moving to find a spot free of bombs and wait until the Poltergeist returns to the stars to try capturing him again. Repeat the process until he is defeated and the book yours. A problem arises however, there is no way to get the book to the bookshelf! Time to head back to the East Corridor.

Money Spot: You may have noticed the Gold Greenietaunting you from the rocket. Get a log from the Jungle Exhibit, light it in the Ancient Exhibit, then light the fuse by returning to the Space Exhibit. The Gold Greeniewill blast off with the rocket. Leave and come back to hear an explosion, and find a very disoriented ghost. Capture him for some money.

East Corridor

Take the door below the Study to enter the Nautical Exhibit.

Nautical Exhibit.

An Empowered Slammer will be 'steering' the room, and the heavy fog will make your strobosope useless. Start by closing the porthole with the Poltergust, then sucking the fog in. Then attack the Empowered Slammer, who is followed by an Empowered Greenie and Helmet Greenie. Defeat them all to get access to the steering wheel yourself. By using the Poltergust to point the compass north, the portal door will switch to the Study. Now you can bring the book right into the Study!

Diamond 9 - After taking control of the Nautical Exhibit, activate the portal, and grab a log from the Jungle Exhibit. Take the log and dump it on the platform on the right side to lower other other steering wheel blocking the door. Head out the door to find a chest with a gem.

Study

With the book from the Space Exhibit, place it in the bookshelf to gain access to the Train Exhibit.

Diamond 10: Before entering the Train Exhibit, there are several things to do that you may not have time for in later missions. To start, grab one of theBalloon Berriesfrom the Study, and enter the portal to return to the Front Entrance. Float upwards and to the right and find a small landing with a gargoyle with abluebook in his mouth. Make him drop it and bring the book back to the Dark Age Exhibit to find a gem.

Diamond 11: Take aBalloon Berryfrom the Study and go to the Jungle Exhibit through the portals. Float up to the upper level, and look for a gold Balloon Berry. Grab it to start a coin minigame. The trick is to fly against the moving coins to grab them that much faster. Collect them all and be rewarded with a gem.

Diamond 12: Grab aBalloon Berryfrom the Study and head to the Ice Age Exhibit through the portals. Float up to the upper level and look for a gold Balloon Berry. By grabbing it, a coin minigame starts. Follow the paths of coins going out the air conditioners to get all of the coins before time runs out. The prize is a chest with a gem inside.

Boo - Booreaucrat - Grab aBalloon Berryfrom the Study and go to the Dark Age Exhibit. Float to the upper level to find a gold Balloon Berry, which starts a coin minigame. Grab all the coins in the shape of a Boo before time runs out to reveal a chest with the Boo inside.

Money Spot: Take aBalloon Berryfrom the Study and go to the Ancient Exhibit to find several chests in the higher levels, as well as a goldBalloon Berryto start a coin minigame. Float against the current of coins to get them faster, and get rewarded with a chest.

Train Exhibit

Prepare to be ambushed by a truly terrible combo - Empowered Hiders and Empowered Sneakers. Keep your eyes out for projectiles and Sneakers at all time. Try to get the Hiders on one side of the room while you lure the Sneaker to the other. When they are finished, the room will be yours. Look into the train model for an interesting view, and finish the mission.

Diamond 13: Use the darklight on the floor to reveal a missing set of tracks, which brings a large train into the room. Step on for the ride of your life, and get a gem for your troubles.

Money Spot: Flash the giant model train on the left side of the room for some quick cash!
