Start your application for a master's
When doapplications close? If you wish to enrol in a master's, submit your application before the given date.
Still need to graduate?
Even if you have not yet graduated, you can still apply at any time. However, you need to graduate before the start of the academic year.
Application Deadlines
The application deadline is based on nationality. Your current nationality is leading, even if you have a Dutch or European residence permit. For example: if you have a Mexican nationality and hold a Dutch residence permit, your nationality is Mexican (not Dutch). As your residence permit needs to be verified, if it is valid to study at the University of Twente. Or that the University of Twente needs to request a new study visa on your behalf. Check theDutch government websitewhether you have an EEA or visa nationality.

Students with a Dutch nationality
These deadlines apply if you have a Dutch nationality. Your current nationality is leading, even if you have a Dutch or European residence permit. For example: if you have a Mexican nationality and hold a Dutch residence permit, your nationality is Mexican (not Dutch). As your residence permit needs to be verified, if it is valid to study at the University of Twente. Or that the University of Twente needs to request a new study visa on your behalf. Students with an EEA nationality (non-Dutch)
These deadlines apply if you have a nationality of one of theEuropean Economic Area (EEA), the Dutch nationality excluded. Your current nationality is leading, even if you have a Dutch or European residence permit. For example: if you have a Mexican nationality and hold a Dutch residence permit, your nationality is Mexican (not Dutch). As your residence permit needs to be verified, if it is valid to study at the University of Twente. Or that the University of Twente needs to request a new study visa on your behalf. Students with a non-EEA (VISA) nationality
The dates below apply if you needa residence permit for the Netherlands/ visa when you wish to live and study here. Your current nationality is leading, even if you have a Dutch or European residence permit. For example: if you have a Mexican nationality and hold a Dutch residence permit, your nationality is Mexican (not Dutch). As your residence permit needs to be verified, if it is valid to study at the University of Twente. Or that the University of Twente needs to request a new study visa on your behalf. The visa/residence permit procedure only starts after accepting your Offer of Admission, be aware of thosedeadlinesas well. Every non-EEA student must go through the process, including students with a residence permit, as we need to verify this.
Subsidiary students (in Dutch: doorstroomminor, Kies op Maat of bijvakkers)
The dates below apply if you are an HBO student that uses the minor space to do courses at the University of Twente in order to transfer to a master's.

Currently studying at an HBO? There are differenttransfer routes and opportunitiesto bring your knowledge and skills up to the level required for admission to an academic master’s.
External students have to make sure that the learning agreement, agreed upon by their examination board, is in the hands of the UT contact personbeforethe end of the subscription period.

February or September intake?
All (pre-)master's have an intakeof 1 September, which means the academic yearstartson1 September. Your first day of class is often on another day.For some (pre-)master's - and also for specialisations within the master's- you can start inFebruary. Check the website of themaster's of your interest whether the pre-master’sor master's specialisation starts in September and/or in February.

Do I have to sign up for a pre-master's?
There's no need to apply for a pre-master's. You always enrol for the master's of your choice. Following your application, UT will assess it and let you know if you need to follow a pre-master first. After you have successfully completed the pre-master’s, i.e. obtained sufficient ECTS, you can continue with the master’s.
