Many Pokemon in the anime are created in the likeness of real animals. These can include monkeys and fishes and snakes and so on. This makes pokemon more relatable to the public. It also defines the type of personality and attributes such a based pokemon would possess.

All Monkey Pokemon
There are a few pokemon that look way too much like monkeys and gorillas. We will be looking at all Monkey Pokemon throughout the generations.
Mankey
- Pig Monkey Pokemon
Makey is a monkey-type pokemon. In the show, a wild manky snatched Ash’s hat away. Its abilities are Vital Spirit and Defiant
Primeape
- Evolves From Mankey
The Mankey that steals Ash’s cap evolves into a Primeape. It is soon caught by Ash. Its abilities are the same as Mankey.
Aipom
- Simian Pokemon
Aipom is a Simian Pokemon with a 3-fingered hand for a tail. An Aipom also steals Ash’s hat and then starts following the team. Soon after, Ash catches it.
Ambipom
- Evolves from Aipom
Ash’s Aipom evolves into Ambipom. Its abilities are Technician and Skill Link.
Slaking
- Lazy Pokemon
Ash defeated a Slaking using his Grovyle. Slaking is a large Pokemon with apr-like features. Its ability is truant.
Chimchar
- Chimp Pokemon
Ash catches a Chimchar from the wild and evolves it. It is a Fire-type Pokemon that resembles a chimpanzee. Its abilities are Blaze and Iron Fist.
Monferno
- Evolves From Chimchar
Ash Evolves his chimchar into Monferno. Its abilities are the same as Chimchar.
Infernape
- Evolves From Monferno
The Monferno under Ash evolves into an Infernape when it saves Ash’s team’s pokemon from Team Rocket. Its abilities are the same as Chimchar
Pansage
- Grass Monkey Pokemon
Cilan owns a Pansage. Its head is covered in a broccoli-like sprout. Its abilities are Gluttony and Overgrow.
Simisage
- Evolves From Pansage
Ash battles a Simisage in a tournament with his scraggy and loses. Its abilities are the same as Pansage.
Panpour
- Spray Pokemon
Panpuor is a water Pokemon type. In Thrash of the Titans!, Goh caught a Panpour while he and Ash were visiting Opelucid City. Its abilities include Gluttony, Torrent Hidden Ability.
Simipour
Simipour is a water Pokemon type. Simipour debuted in Search for the Clubultimate!, under the ownership of Betty. Its abilities include Gluttony and Torrent Hidden Ability.
Pansear
- High Temp Pokemon
Pansear is a Fire Pokemon type. Pansear is one of three elemental monkeys. The other two are the Grass-type Pansage and the Water-type Panpour. Its abilities include Gluttony and Blaze Hidden Ability.
Simisear
- Evolves From Pansear
Simisear is a Fire Pokemon type. In Search for the Clubultimate!, Getty used a Simisear in a match against Betty’s Simipour during the Clubsplosion tournament. It was soon defeated. Its abilities include Gluttony and Blaze Hidden Ability.
Darmanitan
- Blazing Pokemon
Darmanitan is a Fire Pokemon type. Darmanitan can change forms during battle, depending on its Ability and current HP. When it enters Zen Mode, it is Fire/Psychic-type. Its abilities include Sheer Force (Standard Mode), Gorilla Tactics (Galarian Standard Mode), (and Zen Mode) Hidden Ability.
Grookey
- Chimp Pokemon
Grookey is a Grass Pokemon type. Grookey’s green fur can create energy from the sunlight, similar to how plants use their green leaves to photosynthesize. Its abilities include Overgrow, Grassy Surge Hidden Ability.
Thwackey
- Evolves From Grookey
Thwackey is a Grass Pokemon type. Thwackey can perform a ritual by grooming their friends to cheer them up to show friendship and trust. Its abilities include Overgrow, Grassy Surge Hidden Ability.
Rillaboom
Evolves From Thwackey
Rillaboom is a Grass Pokemon type. Rillaboom has a Gigantamax form that was introduced in The Isle of Armor. Its abilities include Overgrow, Grassy Surge Hidden Ability.
Zarude
- Rogue Monkey Pokemon
Zarude is a Dark Grass Pokemon type. Zarude is the only known Pokémon capable of learning the move Jungle Healing. Its abilities include Leaf Guard.
Oranguru
- Sage Pokemon
Oranguru is a NormalPsychic pokemon type. It’s the only known Pokémon capable of understanding the move Instruct. It’s abilities include Inner Focus or Telepathy Symbiosis Hidden Ability.
Passimian
- Teamwork Pokemon
Passimian is a Fighting pokemon type. Passimian is a black-and-white Pokémon resembling a powerfully built lemur with broad shoulders. Its abilities include Receiver and Defiant Hidden Ability.
