A/T Oil Temp warning
Hi folks,
Slight problem on long motorway trips. The warning light 'A/T Oil Temp' is coming on and staying on. Seems to reset on restarting however I'm a little concerned that I need to sort out the underlying problem. Forum posts mention the alternator but don't go into details. Does anyone know anything about this???

Check your transmission fluid level, check the level with the engine running though.
Also, the fluid may be getting too hot and needs changing.

hi! when my alternator went all the dash lights that come on when you first turn the ignition on and stayed on! so in my limited knowledge i would say that its not your alternator as you say its only on long motorway journeys. Have you changed the oil and filter recently?? how about the coolent and rad cap and thermistat? you dont want your beast to overheat very expensive! I am sure some one much wiser will be along soon to tell you how to fix it. but in the mean time go check you coolent, not just in the expansion tanke but take off the rad cap and see if you can see any coolent there and toop up if nessessary and dont forget to burp the system plenty of details on here easy to do just takes a while!
Hope this is of some help and you get it sorted!
take it easy michael
it never rain it pours! glad I got the 4X4

Drain and refill, like doing the engine oil. Its easy.
If it really bad you want do it a couple time over a week or so to get all the rubbish oil out, as you can't change it all just by draining the sump as some staysin the torque convertor.

OK, bear with me...
1) Do I need special oil?
2) Where do I pull the plug from?
3) Where do I top up?
